The Nutcracker

Ohio Performing Arts Institute is the proud home of one of Springfield's favorite holiday traditions: The Nutcracker. For over 30 years, D. Scot Davidge and the Staff and Students at OPAI have worked hard each fall to present a beautiful Nutcracker Ballet for the city of Springfield. 2025 Auditions!

Auditions will be held at Ohio Performing Arts Institute on September 13 and 14, 2025.

Beginner Auditions (All ages without dance experience, dancers with less than 5 years of training, trained dancers under age 10): 1pm-2pm both days. Beginner auditioners only required to come to one day. You will sign up for one 30-minute time slot when you will audition.

Advanced auditions: (Dancers with 5+ years dance experience and who are 10 years old or older) Advanced auditions will be held from 2pm-330pm both days. Advanced auditioners strongly recommended to attend both days, but only required to attend one.

Adults wishing to participate in the party scene should not come to auditions, but must fill out a registration form once it is posted.

2025 Performances!

OPAI's 36th Annual Production of The Nutcracker will take the stage December 12th and 13th, 2025 at The Kuss Auditorium. Tickets are not yet on sale. Please check back soon!

Clara's Tea Party

Join us for an elegant affair hosted by Clara! Teas, Juices, Hot Cocoa, a light lunch fare, and delectable sweet treats will be served. There will be arts and crafts, story readings, door prizes, and holiday singing! Join Clara, Sugar Plum Fairy, The Nutcracker Prince, and their friends for this magical afternoon. A perfect afternoon holiday activity for any kid who loves the holiday season!
